A white linen suit is legendary and will make you look and feel fresh. Here’s how you can rock one.

When the temperature rises your threads should be breathable. Wearing natural fibres is better than anything else in summer and linen is one of the most favourable fabrics. That’s because of its cooling properties. It absorbs moisture well, and lets the skin breathe - a fail-proof way to keep your cool at any summer event.

When thinking about cut, the choice is yours. Slouchy or slim fit, both look good. The only thing you have to remember is that natural linen wrinkles easily. So if you want a more polished look while wearing linen opt for a linen blend; it has more structure which makes it less wrinkly.

Here are five ways to style a white suit for a photo fresh summer.

Formal Affair

Linen is powerful enough to blend with other fabrics while keeping its own lightweight allure. Going to a fancy do? Consider wearing a white linen suit with a well fitted tuxedo shirt to create a sense of layering and texture. A simple pocket square and a velvet bow tie is the epitome of sophisticated elegance.

Summer Wedding

A tailored look always suits a wedding best. Contrast a neutral linen suit with a blue chambray shirt to be eye catching. If the occasion demands a tie, opt for knitted versions, like the one I am wearing. Linen tends to have a natural matte finish, so steer away from high gloss, wider ties; they’ll clash with your suit and you’ll look dated. For your feet wear a tan or brown or even navy loafer worn with secret socks.

On Vacation

Turn up the style in your vacation by putting on a white suit. Beige, white or off-white – that’s the colour pallet for a linen suit on a vacation. White is a very easy shade to style but contrast is key. A floral shirt adds a dash of vibrancy for an on-trend ensemble. Any vacation look deserves comfortable shoes, sneakers are a good choice, but for a more stylish approach wear your linen suit with a pair of espadrilles.

Day Times Affairs

Yes, lightweight suits look good with lightweight clothes. In my case I tried the linen suit with a white linen mandarin collared shirt - it feels fresh and conveys some casual dapperness. Bump up the appeal with cool accessories like a navy belt or a necklace. Inject some espadrilles or low top sneakers for a sense of stylish effortlessness.

Summer Party

To give yourself an effortless look try a white suit with a black v neck t-shirt. The darker t-shirt is proving to be in-trend and wearing your suit with a t-shirt gives a more relaxed look on a night out. Adding cool accessories like a necklace or pocket square can take it from preppy to edgy. Complete the look with dark leather sneakers and you're ready for the night.
