Needling My Way To Healthier Skin
The idea of poking my face with tiny needles in hopes of improving my skin sounded a little painful. But after doing some research I was ready to give microneedling a try, thanks to thelaserbeautique.co.za
What is Microneedling?
It is a minimally-invasive procedure for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. The treatment involves the use of a microneedling device to create controlled skin injury. Creating controlled punctures allows blood to rise to the surface to induce the skin to start a healing collagen production response. Microneedling has been scientifically demonstrated to show improvement in fine lines, sun spots, scars, burns and large pores to name a few. The professional facial procedure is performed by an advanced skin care specialist.
The Procedure
The first step involves the application of a numbing cream to my face. I knew I was about to experience tiny needle pricks, so I welcomed this step. I chilled for about five minutes, taking a couple selfies as I felt the numbing sensation. My skin was ready and the specialist used a micro pen on my face. The entire microneedling process took less than 30 minutes. It was quick and painless. I did feel some pricks near the bonier areas of my face like my forehead but nothing I couldn’t handle. Directly after the treatment, the specialist applied a Trans Dermal Solutions (TDS) or ampules to my face. The skin soaks up the serums or ampules which gives long lasting and natural results says the skin specialist.
The After Effect
Immediately after the treatment, my T-zone area was red – and I was advised to stay out of direct UV exposure for about two days. Also not to perform extensive cardio exercises, take excessive hot showers or going to a sauna. Within two-three hours, the redness had calmed down considerably and the numbness sensation was gone. I cleansed my skin as per normal at night and applied sunscreen.
After about a week and-a-half post-treatment I saw results. My skin felt smoother and looked clearer. Since microneedling stimulates your natural collagen production. Full results aren’t seen until about the six-week mark. For best results, microneedling can be repeated every six weeks, depending on your concerns. A course of 6-12 treatments is recommended for optimal results and I would recommend this treatment 100 percent.
