Stay Fresh Faced On Your Next Trip

Travelling can play havoc with your appearance—here’s a list of the best travel-friendly grooming products for men.

Recently I travelled to Istanbul—my first international trip after 3 years. I was so excited and I received a bunch of grooming products from a few brands for my trip. But before I talk about skincare, I’d like to tell you a story quickly.

When I arrived in Istanbul, I stood and watched as the luggage dwindled on the baggage retrieval belt. Miraculously my suitcase—packed with all of my clothing and toiletries was left behind in Doha. This was a stressful experience and it almost dampened my holiday mood. The airline eventually delivered my suitcase after 6 days. After many emails, calls and a visit to Qatar’s check in counter, Qatar (baggage claim policy) agreed to compensate me for the inconvenience. Remember you have the legal right to claim compensation from the airline if your checked-in luggage is delayed, lost or damaged.

Luckily for me I had some of my grooming products stashed in my overnight bag. I packed two sets of grooming aids, one set was inside my overnight bag and the other set was inside the missing suitcase (I admit, I'm a sucker for skincare). Just in case you come out of the airport with your hair a mess, bags under your eyes and dry skin, then you know you’re covered. From my favourite cologne to that trustworthy moisturiser, I’ve put together a list of my top must-haves skincare products for guys on the go. Before you start packing your bags, take a look at this list of grooming essentials to take with you on your next trip.

PRO TIP:

Pouring your cleanser or moisturiser into travel sized bottles doesn't just fly with me, it's downright inefficient. If you’re on a budget, go to any department store and ask for samples of your favourite grooming products and take it with you.

Tom Ford Exfoliating Energy Scrub

The orangey coloured formula is packed with apricot seeds, to slough dead skin cells. It also contains a Purifying Complex to help keep your skin surface levels naturally clearer.

Boy De Chanel Anti-Shine Toning Lotion

As someone with an oily t-zone (forehead and down my nose), this lotion mattified my skin and reduced the look of pores. Just make sure to apply sunscreen afterwards.

Elizabeth Arden Cleanser

This fragrance-free creamy cleanser was a sure favourite part of my daily travel skincare ritual. It gave my face a deep clean, without leaving it dry.

Aqaulis Namaqualand Parfum

Namaqualand fragrance is inspired by one of the most unique locations in South Africa. The 50ml size makes it perfect for traveling, ideal for carry-on luggage. The scent is sweet-floral with long lasting power.

AQ Active Serum

This power-packed formula contains a potent blend of ingredients to combat the signs of ageing, loss of firmness and tiredness. The skin’s cell turnover is increased naturally, with improved collagen and elastin production. I used it every night before bed.

Nuxe Crème Fraiche 3-in-1

Any 3-in-1 product is a space saver and this multi-purpose moisturising cream was a dream. The cream is enriched with Sweet Almond Plant Milk and Oil lies in its novel formulation and irresistible texture. My whole family used the cream.

Label M Sun Protect Oil

I love this product! The shine boosting veil provides protection for the hair against sun damage, chlorine and salt water with UVA / UVB filters. It will sail through security and won’t take up valuable travel space.

Clarins Hydrate Eye Mask

This is one of my all-time favourite for the travelling man. It cools and firms up the skin under your eyes, reducing puffiness almost instantly. The perfect way to look fresh-faced after a 12 hour flight.
